Eye Brow Transplant

Over-plucking, injury, illness, age, autoimmune conditions and tattoos gone wrong can all contribute to misshapen brows that look less than lush—or that create facial expressions that just don’t feel like ‘you.’ Unless you have an autoimmune condition, an eyebrow transplant can provide a natural-looking, long-lasting solution to your eyebrow woes, using your own hair to supplement (or alter) your existing browline. The outpatient procedure is done under local anesthesia and usually takes a just few hours,. Basically, dr. Syed will take hair follicles from elsewhere on your body—usually the back of your scalp—and transplant them to thicken and reshape your eyebrows.

Treatment

An eyebrow transplant can be done one of two ways. Neither requires a lot of hair, but in both cases, the process of harvesting and placing each follicle can be time-consuming. Most patients can expect to be in surgery for about three to four hours.

There are two common methods for hair transplants: follicular unit extraction(FUE) and follicular unit transplantation (FUT). Both are usually performed as outpatient surgeries using local anesthesia. During FUE,dr. Syed will shave the donor site to get closer to the follicle, then make a small incision around individual hair follicles to remove them for transfer to your brows. FUE harvesting doesn’t require stitches, and won’t leave you with scars, unlike FUT.

During FUT, Dr. Syed will remove a strip of tissue from the back of your head, then stitch the donor site closed. He will then use a microscopic dissection technique to split the donor tissue into “follicular units,” containing up to four hairs and follicles.

After finalizing the size of the grafts, your surgeon will make small incisions with a scalpel or needle and carefully transplant the single hair follicles to fill out and reshape your brows. These incisions must be placed in the proper direction, to make sure that the transplanted hair grows flat against the brow and in a direction that’s typical for eyebrow hair.
